Of course when you have claims of world records in anything, there’ll be dispute in most cases. In surfing’s subjective moving playing field, you’re bound to have even more.
So, did Carlos Burle ride the biggest wave ever at Nazaré on Monday?
CNN asked Laird Hamilton, he who started this whole thing and remains the Jedi master.
As for some of talk about Maya Gabeira’s 2nd near-death experience in two years (Tahiti, Code Red swell 201@), again, much has been said. She broke her ankle on the third giant chop-hop in a row – anyone would have needed saving. Or … she’s just not got the skill or natural talent to be out there.
