World Cup Tow-In Surfing Championship Kicks Off in Chile

Official competition for the World Cup Tow-In Surfing Championship kicked off yesterday in Punta de Lobos, located just outside of Chile’s national capital, Santiago.

The event marks the first time that Chile has hosted a surfing event of this caliber. Some of the sports’ fiercest competitors will be in attendance, including three-time world surfing champion, Garrett McNamara, as well the best and brightest from the US, Australia, Brazil and Chile.

“Good wave conditions are coming our way and the best riders in the world have arrived in Chile for this event,” says Chilean surfer Rodrigo ‘Flecha’ Escobar.

Pichilemu, with waves of more than five meters high, will be the scene of this important world championship that finishes next Sunday, the 2nd of November.
