Gabon: Mayumba’s Equator-flavoured Pointbreaks on the Edge of Africa

The current issue (80) of The Surfer’s Path has a fantastic African exploration story called ‘Getting to the Point in Gabon’ written by Sam Bleakley and photographed by John S. Callahan. Here’s a short film about the same adventure, deep into unsurfed West African territory.
In their words:

“Travel, Exploration, Adventure and Surf – driven by this simple mantra the surfEXPLORE team (Sam Bleakley, Erwan Simon, Emi Cataldi and photographer John Callahan), joined by legendary Hawaiian surfer Randy Rarick, take a journey to the remote south coast of Gabon in west Africa, where stunning landscapes and quality waves abound. MAYUMBA retraces the steps of their trip and discoveries along the road (kind of) less traveled.
Full feature film coming autumn 2010…stay tuned!”
