Lost Interest - Dane Reynolds is bloody good

Dane Reynolds is something of a poster boy for those who don’t like poster boys in surfing. He’s a walking ‘whatever’. And many say he’s the best surfer in the world.
Last week Dane, who hasn’t competed in any ASP tour events yet this year due to a knee injury, announced that he wasn’t going to be heading to JBay for the contest going on down there. No reason was given but it could have been to do with … his knee injury.
Then again, maybe he’s just lost interest. That’s the name of his new mini-film, the likes of which he puts out irregularly on his blog
Allegedly, this was filmed in the last month or so. Must have been part of Dane’s physio rehab.
Anyway, that’s the context, here’s the bloody good surfing.

What I like about this video is that it feels reasonably spontaneous.Dane tries, sometimes falls, sometimes does extraterrestrial stuff in a place on the wave you thought was against physics, when he walks you can see that there is a knee problem, yet when he is on any board(what a big square tail was that ?)he does what we know he can.I would say ,if he quit the tour and lived out of dvds while freesurfing it would still sound and look good.In the meantime, here in Italy I am waiting for the mediterranean to wake up again(4-5 ft waves back in july ,in viareggio, tuscany though).
