On August 23rd, Teton Gravity Research and the Surfrider Foundation will travel to Nevada for a special Las Vegas poolside premiere of their movie ‘Out There’.
A groundbreaking effort in the surf movie genre, ‘Out There’ takes an insightful and at times moving look at humankind’s impact on the world’s oceans, waves and beaches through the eyes of some of today’s best surfers. Shot in hi-definition and 16 mm, the film follows pro surfers Shane Dorian, Ian Walsh, Pancho Sullivan, Greg Long, Garrett McNamara and others as they travel across the globe to not only showcase the outer limits of today’s progressive surfing, but to talk about impending threats to several surfing mecca’s, including Trestles in Southern California, El Puerto in Southern Chile and Hawaii’s famed North Shore.
“We are excited to bring this film to Las Vegas,” says Surfrider Foundation’s Matt McClain. “This will be an incredible opportunity for us to interact with people and remind them that beach and coastal conservation doesn’t start or end at the beach.”
Big wave surfing legend Garrett McNamara will be on hand to host the event. Following the screening, moviegoers will be treated to a special performance from the reggae sensations the Easy Star All Stars. Proceeds from the screening will benefit the Surfrider Foundation and Make A Difference Las Vegas – an organization dedicated to creating a community of giving to fulfill the needs of the Las Vegas community,
